I know that Mommy is Rock ‘n Roll is a ‘mommy blog’ but let’s face it- talking about one’s children all the time is BOR-ING.

While I love this blog part of me wants to move on. Is that blogging suicide? I already committed that by switching to WP.

I have so much going on in my life and I want to write write write about it without wondering ‘wait, is this mommy-related?’ because that isn’t fair to me. I know that no one else is censoring me but while I like the idea of a topical blog I HATE IT in practice. Let me be free, dammit!

Many of you have multiple blogs and post frequently on all of them and I marvel at your abilities to generate that much fresh content. I, on the other hand, can’t. I have a separate blog (it’s a Tumblr page) for weight loss-related entries but I would like to talk about that stuff on my ‘catch-all’ blog too.

I will let this simmer for a bit but I think it’s going to happen. I just hope that my web guy doesn’t get pissed at me. I’ll buy you a beer for your hard work, dude.

Of course, I will keep you all posted.

  1. Good Morning Lauren – I love your blog and know that the definition of mom is wrapped in a myriad of everything. With this thought, you can write about anything that comes from your heart, soul and mind and people will read it. Mommy can rock one way and roll another.

    Create the best day ever!

  2. When I started this journey…my only goal was to make sure and get my journals transcribed to an electronic format and may be continue keeping the journal that way. I started that little journey almost 8 years ago.

I never had a desire to write only about one thing, and SO many people give the advice of theming/branding your site to a particular genre/topic…and boy…are they usually completely clueless. Blogging is about expressing yourself, not selling yourself or meeting the demands of what another group would like to see come from you…selling out is for Musicians, speaking out about whatever you want is what we do. ;)

Let me know if you want any help on the new blog ;)

  3. I’d love to get you connected with Mamas Write a new group for Christian Mom Bloggers in Texas! Check us out on the web at http://mamaswrite.com or email us at mamaswrite@gmail.com for details. Can’t wait to meet you!

  4. I have a writing blog but I write about my life, particularly how awesome I look in a pair of jorts and how buying alcohol makes me break out in hives. If that doesn’t spell out “future Pulitzer” I don’t know what does.

I think it’s fine to write what you want on this blog. Just because you’re a mommy doesn’t mean you think like one 24/7. At least I don’t.

  5. My first blog EVER was thewifeyblogs.com
But I’m a mommy, and a military wife, and sometimes just me and maybe I just wanna talk about me!
I ended up with 163765831260 blogs so that I had a place for everything. Finally, a year and a half in, I said fuck it. I’m at briemarie.net now. My name. No gimmick or silly lines to blur. It’s my blog, with my name on it, and I can write about whatever I want now and it’s so freeing. So blog shit up girl, your way.

  6. Oh no! I hope that you aren’t going to stop blogging!!
